Who is the turbo kit for? The factory 6-cylinder turbocharged engine generated 286 HP at 5200 RPM and around 400 Nm of torque. This was with the standard turbochargers and a boost pressure not exceeding 0.5 bar. From the original engine, only the block and cylinder head remained. The block was bored to a capacity of 3.1 liters, and we installed a new forged kit (including a new crankshaft, bearings, connecting rods, and pistons with an increased diameter). We wanted to create a fast machine in the Gran Turismo class, but also one suitable for city driving – that is, one that would easily handle both high-speed highway driving and city traffic with the air conditioning on.
Drive smartly! To improve driving characteristics, we installed the renowned German KW Variant 3 suspension with adjustable ride height and stiffness. The planned power after the work was completed was supposed to exceed 600 HP, so we had to think about an appropriate braking system for such a horsepower. We chose the braking system from Rotor, which I have personally tested. At the front, we installed 6-piston calipers with huge, composite brake discs, 355 mm in diameter and 32 mm thick. At the rear, we used the same discs but with 4-piston calipers. For this car, we had to build a completely new twin-turbo system, based on modern and efficient Garrett ball-bearing turbochargers.

To prevent the new, enlarged INCONEL valves from sticking at higher RPMs, reinforced 3SX springs with titanium valve retainers were used. Fidanza adjustable cam gears were employed for precise timing adjustments. They are driven by a Kevlar belt from Power Enterprise. The custom-made exhaust manifolds culminate in a Garrett GT42RS turbocharger, controlled by an Apex'i boost controller with two 44mm TIAL wastegates. The spring hardness of the wastegates ensures a minimum boost pressure of 0.9 bar. The moment of final tuning and the test drive arrived. On the track in Borispol, near Kyiv, the blue UFO could be seen speeding at 323 km/h (!), with the project author – Andriy Dzindra – behind the wheel. Further high-speed tests showed that the result of over 320 km/h was not a coincidence, and it was stable! The power measurement at higher boost pressure on 98-octane fuel was as follows: 626 hp at 6400 RPM and 806 Nm of torque at 5100 RPM. All of this was achieved with a boost pressure of 1.56 bar. Now, Andriy installed a new, three-disc PitRoadM ATS clutch, which, according to Japanese manufacturers, can handle up to 1400 hp. Now, he will really be able to "blow" 2.0-2.5 bar on 140-octane fuel and see the power curve – according to calculations, it will be significantly different from the current one. The results for the 3000GT are impressive. And this is not a stripped-out "Karch" with minimal weight reduction, but an ordinary sports coupe brought to the level of a Ferrari supercar.
